One of the beautiful things about Advent in Split are the various holiday locations spread throughout the old town. While we may have a considerable amount fewer than in Zagreb, each location is alive with the holiday spirit, with something uniquely special on offer. Today we take a look at Advent on Pjaca.
The Food: The restaurants on Pjaca are offering Advent menus to celebrate the holiday season. Here, you can find classic bakalar, “Portuguese” style bakalar (made with bechamel, potatoes, and parmesan), sarma, pasta with sausages, boiled meats, goulash with gnocchi, tripe, pasta fazol, and of course plenty of sauerkraut.
The Drinks: While mulled wine (what many here know as “kuhano vino”) is flowing through the restaurants and stands this Advent, also be on the lookout for plenty of drink specials flowing through the cafes this holiday season. The cafes in Pjaca are offering half liters of draft beer for 15 kuna (0.3 liters for 10 kuna), coffees for 8 kuna, and tea for 10 kuna. Mulled wine is usually available for 12 to 15 kuna, and many places are serving both white and red options.
The Music: Karaoke nights, Dj’s, and a whole lot of dancing make Advent on Pjaca all the more special. You can view the full calendar of events below.
