Mayor Bandić commended the project and was especially grateful for ten new job positions
The biggest food outlet in Croatia was opened today by Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić in a modest ceremony. This is a sequel of the start-up story of store owners Maja and Mario Žamboki. The second food outlet Žabac was opened in the Trešnjevka area, at the address Tratinska 80a, in a 300 m2 space, continuing the positive story of food outlet Žabac in Tkalčićeva street. This store concept sells surplus merchandise produced in factories, broken packaging and near expiration merchandise. Merchandise can be bought at up to 90% discount.
During the opening, Mayor Bandić said: “This is a noteworthy move, and it is especially commendable that through this concept, 10 people will be employed. Every job is precious. We wish you a lot of success and we hope you will open your third store soon.“
Mario Žamboki said they got the idea of such a store concept when they saw how much food gets thrown away. Encouraged by positive experiences from the first food outlet Žabac, it was logical to open in a much bigger space. “According to our experiences so far, I can say that our store is visited by all generations: children, youth and elderly and what is most important to us, they leave happy with full baskets for little money.“
The owners have announced they plan to open new food outlets Žabac in Zagreb, but they also plan to spread all over Croatia.
