Rectors Palace to Remain Closed until June 7, 2017

One of Dubrovnik’s most stunning buildings is set to remain closed until the beginning of next month.

A request has been filed for the extension of the works that are being undertaken to rebuild the atrium of the famous Rector’s Palace (Knezev Dvor) in Dubrovnik’s historical centre. Due to this, the premises will remain closed until Wednesday the 7th of June, 2017. 

Originally the site of an early Middle Age defence building, the imposing Gothic style palace, which also boasts Renaissance and Baroque style features, once served as the seat of the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa (Dubrovnik Republic) between the 14th century and 1808, when the once autonomous republic succumbed to Napoleon and his army. Today, it is one of the most photographed structures in Dubrovnik and acts as the aesthetically beautiful backdrop for a great many concerts.

As of Wednesday the 7th of June, the Cultural and Historical Museum will work according to its normal hours – 09:00 – 18:00.
