Dust off your running shoes in time for Konavle’s Duathlon!
Konavle is a picturesque region just south of the City of Dubrovnik, close to the interior of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to the Montenegrin border. Home to Croatia’s southernmost town (Cavtat), Dubrovnik’s eternally busy Airport (Cilipi) and well known for its perfect wine climate, Konavle is an unspoiled region of valleys, rolling hills and evergreen vegetation, flanked by mountains on one side and the sparkling Adriatic on the other.
While Konavle sees more and more tourists from Dubrovnik visit areas like Cilipi to experience the traditional folklore and customs of the area, it is otherwise fairly underrated as far as many aspects of tourism go. Despite the fact that there are many active tourism opportunities in Konavle, from horse riding to mountain biking – it is still somehow particularly overlooked in regard to sports and athletics. That being said, this aesthetically stunning area is a ”must go” if you’re a lover of running!
As part of the Dubrovnik Outdoor Festival, a race will be held on the 27th of May, 2017 in the heart of Konavle. Starting at 10:00 from Cadmos Village adventure park, participants will have the chance to test their endurance and stamina with a 5km biking race immediately followed by a 5km run!
