Eternal Derby: Over 2,000 Torcida Expected at Zagreb’s Maksimir Tomorrow

The moment we have all been waiting for…bitter rivals Dinamo and Hajduk will meet tomorrow for the first eternal derby of the season!

We’re going to step away from the Hajduk and Everton news, for now, to remind you of one of the biggest rivalries in Croatian football which will take place tomorrow: the Eternal Derby between Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split.

Tomorrow will be the first time the two teams have faced each other this season, and because Hajduk is on the heels of some spectacular European matches – accomplishing excellent results – you can imagine that nothing will stop Hajduk fans in their tracks now.

“Everyone to Zagreb!” announced Hajduk’s diehard fan group, Torcida, urging all fans to Maksimir on Sunday for the mother of all derbies. Torcida is expected to show in large numbers to support their club against their biggest rivals, Dinamo, and with the amount of Hajduk fans expected, this could be a record-breaking number to the metropolis in recent years, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on August 5, 2017.

“After the European match on Thursday, we were pushing quickly to the derby. We expect a lot of fans, around 2,500 people. Maybe we didn’t talk much about this match because we first had Brondby, and we always look at the match in front of us. Because of that, we began preparations for Maksimir on Friday. There will be no organized transport and everyone will have to arrange their own. We are going up for the victory and to continue our good results,” says Damir Gruić, the spokesperson for Torcida.

Hajduk supporters will occupy the entire south stands at Maksimir, which has a capacity of 4,500. Gruić admits that, as usual, there will definitely be some surprises.

One thousand tickets were sold in Split for the game, and all Hajduk fans will have the opportunity to buy tickets online or at Maksimir’s box office tomorrow, on the day of the match, at 16:00.

Before the match, Hajduk supporters managed to pull a win. Instead of the announced 50 HRK ticket prices or the southern tribune, following the complaints of Torcida, Dinamo dropped the price down to 30 HRK or the same price that the Bad Blue Boys pay in the northern tribune. Are tensions already high before the most anticipated derby in Croatia? You’ll have to tune in to see.

The eternal derby will be played tomorrow between Dinamo and Hajduk at 19:00 at Maksimir Stadium.
