The ninth round of the Croatian First League came to completion this evening with the Adriatic Derby in Split and the first win for NK Rudeš.

Here’s our round 9 recap.

Cibalia v. Lokomotiva Zagreb (0:1)

Cibalia and Lokomotiva faced off on Friday, September 15, 2017,  to kick off the ninth round of the Croatian First League in Vinkovci.

While Cibalia almost held their own for a 0:0 match, Lokomotiva’s Ivan Šunjić found the back of the net in the 89th to bring the away side a 0:1 victory.

Lokomotiva is currently in 6th place with 10 points, while Cibalia is in 7th with nine.

Slaven Belupo v. Osijek (1:1)

Slaven Belupo hosted Osijek in Koprivnica on Saturday, September 16, 2017, for the ninth round match.

Slaven Belupo proved to be the better team in the first half, and a goal by Belupo’s Vidović brought them in the lead for 1:0 at the half.

Osijek, however, did what they do best and equalized with a goal by Škorić in the 93rd minute. The final score was 1:1.

Osijek is currently in fourth place with 16 points, while Slaven Belupo is in fifth with eleven.

Inter Zaprešić v. Dinamo Zagreb (1:3)

Inter Zaprešić and Dinamo Zagreb played their ninth round match at Stadion ŠRC Zaprešić on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

On a shameful pitch soaked by the rain, Zaprešić couldn’t quite compete with the current first-place team, Dinamo Zagreb.

Within the first twelve minutes, Dinamo was already up 0:2 with goals by Henriquez and Soudani. In the 31st minute, however, Inter’s Šarić brought the team back in the game for 1:2.

While the players on the already ruined pitch became even more unbearable to watch, Dinamo’s Doumbia found the back of the net in the 55th minute for 1:3, the final score of the match.

Dinamo Zagreb is currently in first place with 25 points and Inter in 8th with eight.

Hajduk Split v. Rijeka (0:2)

Hajduk and Rijeka played the Adriatic Derby at Poljud on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

It was a game many Hajduk fans wish to forget, and with Hajduk stars Ante Erceg and Zoran Nižić out of the starting eleven due to injuries, Hajduk scrambled to keep up with the Croatian champions.

Rijeka’s Heber capitalized on two Hajduk mistakes for goals in the 24th minute and 58th minute, and the game, which Hajduk coach Joan Carillo calls his worst at Poljud, ended 0:2 for Rijeka.

Hajduk remains in third place with 16 points, while Rijeka remains in second with 21.

NK Rudeš v. Istra 1961 (1:0)

NK Rudeš and Istra faced one another at Kranjčevićeva on September 17, 2017.

Kamenar of Rudeš found the back of the net in the 14th minute of the match, securing a 1:0 win for the club at home. This is the first win for Rudeš this season.

NK Rudeš is currently in 9th place with 6 points, while Istra is in 10th with five.
