What’s in your Split top 10?
Good morning to our fellow foodies, gourmands, and restaurant connoisseurs!
It has been more than a few months since we last visited the most popular restaurants in Split according to TripAdvisor, and since we’re steady into the offseason and approaching a much colder December, we thought we’d tickle your fancy with a bit of what Split likes to eat.
The current top 10 list undoubtedly has a few changes from the last time we Portofino, but some fan-favorites have held their positions high since we started analyzing the results over a year ago.
Without further ado, here is TripAdvisor’s current top 10 restaurants in Split.
1. Portofino: Brand-spanking new to this list because the restaurant is new to Split this year, Portofino opened their doors around the corner from Peristyle in the heart of the peak season. Classified as a steak, pasta and seafood sanctuary, Portofino offers classics like Caesar salad and green pasta with salmon to a selection of risottos, stuffed chicken breast, biftek, and grilled octopus salad. Closed currently until March, Portofino has 5-stars and 119 reviews on TripAdvisor.
2. Kasa Bar & Grill: Second best is Kasa, a bar and grill we first introduced you to back in August when they found themselves third on this list for the first time. Now having crept up to a comfortable second, Kasa is frequented for its grill, funky and sleek decor, and maybe for its location away from the busy city center – Kasa is located in Stobreč, after all. Perhaps a good place for traveling families and groups of tourists staying away from the Split hustle and bustle and just footsteps from the beach, Kasa has 5-stars and 227 reviews on TripAdvisor.
3. Artičok: One of our favorites and a no-name on the top 10 list back in August, we are happy to see Artičok finally getting some fan recognition. A funky and cozy establishment just outside of Prokurative, Artičok opened their doors to the city of Split last summer. From wild hare ragu with gnocchi to smoked risotto and quite frankly the best tuna steak in Split, Artičok has won the hearts of locals and tourists alike. Artičok has been reviewed 214 times and has over 4 stars.
4. Konoba Nikola: TripAdvisor’s number one restaurant back in August and a steady leader of the pack over the last year, Konoba Nikola may have dropped down a few places, but that doesn’t mean the restaurant is any less amazing than it has been over the years. A classic konoba located in Stobreč just like Kasa, Konoba Nikola prides themselves on classic Dalmatian dishes using only the freshest local ingredients, and especially seafood. With 534 reviews on TripAdvisor, Konoba Nikola has over 4 stars.
5. Wine & Cheese Bar Paradox: Usually always within the top three of this list over the last year, Paradox now sits comfortably at number five. After taking over Paradigma’s space this year, Paradox has seriously upped their game with a series of live music events and exquisite wine tastings each Wednesday. An establishment where you’ll always find something fun going on (especially in the winter), Paradox is a winner in our book. Paradox currently has over 4 stars and has been reviewed 1,041 times.
6. Villa Spiza: From the number four spot to the number six, Villa Spiza will always be a fan-favorite – that is, if you can find a spot to sit! Handwritten menus serving only the most classic Dalmatian recipes, most likely passed down from their grandmother’s recipe book, Villa Spiza won over the hearts of Split long ago. Why not try it this winter? Villa Spiza currently has over 4 stars and 1,096 reviews.
7. To Je Tako: Who’s hungry for Mexican? Down just a couple of spots from our last analysis in August, To Je Tako is the spot if you’re looking for a kick of spice and a hint of cantina vibes. From margaritas to empanadas, guacamole to fajitas and chicken tortilla soup, don’t forget to order it all “spicy” – you won’t be sorry. To Je Tako is open this winter with adjusted working hours. The restaurant currently has 385 reviews with 4.603 stars.
8. Kantun Paulina: Paulina is on the list again! Up a spot from the last time we checked, Paulina is a trusted local establishment and quite frankly, the only place in Split to get a čevapi sandwich. A classic fast food joint with lines around the corner most of the time, if you can’t grab a seat at Artičok, head to Paulina for a filling (and cheap), meal. Paulina has 469 reviews on TripAdvisor and over 4 stars.
9. Zinfandel Food & Wine Bar: Zinfandel always find their way in the top 10, and it’s no surprise why. A favorite since 2013, Zinfandel is the place to get a taste of Croatia’s rich wine region. Have you taken part in their wine tasting yet? With enticing menu items including sous-vide pork and skuta-filled ravioli, there isn’t a bad choice on the Zinfandel menu – and trust us, we’ve been more than a few times. Zinfandel currently has 1,249 reviews and over 4 stars.
10. Sexy Cow: This fast-food wrap joint has found a way to remain in the top 10 this year, and we aren’t complaining. Serving up homemade tortillas stuffed with your choice of meat and a tangy, signature sauce, you can’t go wrong. A budget spot to eat where you can snack on their hand-cut fries and creamy milkshakes, we’ll take a bite of Sexy Cow any day. Sexy Cow has been reviewed 628 times and has over 4 stars.
