Another day, another flight announcement as we gear up for the busiest summer season yet.
Ex-Yu Aviation reports on January 16, 2018, that IAG, known as members of the International Consolidated Airlines Group, plan to grow their operations in many Croatian cities for the 2018 summer season. The airlines that are a part of IAG, in particular, include Iberia, British Airways, and Aer Lingus.
Spain’s Iberia Airlines will enhance their seasonal operations to Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik, and has announced up to eight weekly flights to Zagreb this year – adding three more flights than last year’s five. The airline has also decided to kick off their summer season even earlier this year with flights beginning as early as May. Additionally, there will be four weekly flights to Dubrovnik, and Split will see daily services from Madrid. Iberia Airlines also announced to Ex-Yu Aviation that their capacity to Croatia would grow by over 30% this year.
British Airways, already operating in four cities in Croatia, will continue to grow their number of flights for the peak season. Dubrovnik, for example, will see twelve weekly flights from London Gatwick this summer, while there will be five flights a week from Heathrow to Split. Guests can also travel from London to Pula twice a week. As for Zagreb, the airline is considering flights between Heathrow and the Croatian capital as Croatia Airlines has reduced their operations on that route.
“We are pleased with the performance of our routes from Croatia to London, which has resulted in additional flights and capacity this year. Our customers on these routes range from passengers traveling point-to-point to those taking advantage of our extensive international network which serves 199 destinations,” said British Airways in an official statement to Ex-Yu Aviation.
Irish Airline Aer Lingus is also showing more love for Croatia this year by announcing weekly daily operations for the Dublin-Dubrovnik route, while Split will see three flights a week and Pula four.
“We are delighted to announce the further strengthening of our network to Croatia with these additional flights. The extra frequencies to Dubrovnik, Split, and Pula, will allow us to continue offering the choice, service, and value that delivered our Skytrax four-star accreditation and we look forward to welcoming guests on board these services to Croatia in 2018,” said the airline to Ex-Yu Aviation.
Whether Zagreb will be added to their operations is dependent on if the route would meet the needs of Aer Lingus customers, makes sense economically, and would profit the business as a whole.
