ZAGREB, May 23, 2018 – “Let Božo Petrov think back well and say who he had invited,” Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Wednesday when asked if he could confirm media reports according to which lawyer Boris Šavorić was hired by the government as a person enjoying his confidence.
“This is lawyer Boris Šavorić. He enjoys my full confidence and will be among the people who will advise us on legal matters in the situation regarding Agrokor,” was how Plenković allegedly introduced Šavorić at a secret government meeting in February 2017, according to an article in a weekly published on Tuesday that was carried by many other media outlets.
Apart from Plenković, the meeting was reportedly attended by former Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Martina Dalić, Finance Minister Zdravko Marić, MOST party leader Božo Petrov, Agrokor’s former emergency administrator Ante Ramljak, Tomislav Matić of the Texo Manegement company and Boris Šavorić.
Plenković made the statement on Petrov during a break in a meeting of his HDZ party’s parliamentary group, which fully supported his proposal that Dalić, who stepped down amid allegations of conflict of interest over Agrokor, be succeeded in her post as deputy prime minister by Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolušić, while HDZ MP Darko Horvat should assume the office of Economy Minister.
Horvat’s parliamentary seat will be filled by the present government spokeswoman Sunčana Glavak who had already served as a member of parliament.
