Yet another incredible recognition for Croatian football as Zlatko Dalić and Luka Modrić get the nod from the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).

In the selection of the International Federation of Football History & Statistics, which chronicles the history and records of association football, France coach Didier Deschamps was voted the best coach in 2018, while Croatia national team coach Zlatko Dalić took second place, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on November 30, 2018.

Deschamps, who won the World Cup title with France this year, was also declared the best coach by FIFA. Deschamps earned 304 points in the IFFHS selection, while Dalić, who came in second with the “Vatreni” at the World Cup in Russia, allocated 198 points. Third place was awarded to Belgium national team coach Roberto Martinez who won 84 points.

Former Real Madrid coach Zinédine Zidane was named the best club coach in 2018. Zidane won three Champions League titles with Real Madrid before he left the bench at the Madrid club in the spring. Behind Zidane is Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp, and in third is Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.

The captain of Croatia national team and Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modrić, was named the world’s finest footballer in the selection of the International Institute of Football History and Statistics. Modrić won 272 points in the competition, which was 128 more than the second-placed striker Lionel Messi, according to the Switzerland-based organization.

The third best footballer is Belgian Eden Hazard, a player for English Premier League club Chelsea, who allocated 114 points. Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved from Real Madrid to Juventus this summer, surprisingly came in tenth place with five points. IFFHS associates in 90 countries attended voting.

On Monday, France Football will award the world’s best footballer (Ballon d’Or) for 2018 with a ceremony in Paris. Luka Modrić is the favorite candidate to win the prestigious award.
