Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović ranked 47th on the Forbes top 100 most powerful women in the world in 2018.
On Tuesday, American business magazine Forbes released yet another one of their famous lists – and this time, naming the top 100 most powerful women in the world, reports Jutarnji List on December 5, 2018.
Angela Merkel once against found herself at the very top of the list. For the ninth year in a row, the German Chancellor was named the most influential woman in the world. This could change next year, however, as the Chancellor announced that she would not run for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) again and would instead slow down her political career. The party is holding the crucial vote this coming weekend to elect a new leader.
The second position was taken by British Prime Minister Theresa May, who has been conducting intense negotiations on Brexit for two years. Third place was awarded to managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde, who climbed from the eighth place last year.
In fourth place is the director of the American carmaker General Motor (GM), Mary Barra.
The queen of American television, Oprah Winfrey, took the 20th place and Queen Elizabeth II. fell into the 23rd. Right behind the queen is Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the American president and his advisor. In 35th place is Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern took 29th place, while the First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon took the 45th position.
The only Croatian among the first 100 is Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, who won hearts of many around the world for her journey in Russia following the national team at the World Cup. One place behind her in 48th is the editor-in-chief of the Vogue magazine and one of the most influential women in the fashion world, Anna Wintour.
In 51st place is Beyonce Knowles, a music and fashion icon. Mr. Zuckerberg’s wife, Priscilla Chan, holds the 53rd place for her incredible philanthropic projects.
Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is even better positioned than European Commissioner for Foreign and Security Policy, Federico Mogherini (67th), and famous American singer Taylor Swift (68th).
Serena Williams took 79th place, and Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic came in 91st. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė occupied the 62nd place, and Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid took 76th place.
