March 9, 2019 – What does 2019 have in store for Croatia’s national airline? A look at the plans and expectations of Croatia Airlines this year.
According to Avio Radar, Davor Janušić, public relations for Croatia Airlines, revealed that the carrier should see an increase of 5% in passengers compared to last year, which saw a record 2,168,863 passengers. Operations are expected to increase by 3% this year, and revenue growth is expected to follow the projection of passenger transport growth. Expenditures will grow as a result of increased operations and the projected rise in fuel prices. Planned investments this year amount to 112,000,000 kuna.
“Priority is given to investments in aircraft, aircraft engines, and spare parts amounting to 96,600,000 kuna, which is 86.3% of the total planned investments this year. Most of this relates to the reviews of our own and rented engines, works on the aircraft undercarriage, and coloring the aircraft. In addition to the planned works, to regularly maintain the fleet,this includes purchasing spare parts.
The investments in maintenance and development of software applications, IT equipment, and other infrastructure are also planned. All investments will be financed by our means.”
Croatia Airlines’ summer operations begin this year on March 31, which will feature some small changes to its schedule.
As Ex Yu Aviation reports on March 8, 2019, Croatia Airlines will continue with all of its seasonal flights from Zagreb two weeks earlier than last year. The only exception is Bucharest, which will begin one month ahead.
While there will be an additional weekly flight between Zagreb and Dublin, the St. Petersburg route will be reduced one trip a week. Operations will also be cut out of Split to Belgrade and Dusseldorf by one flight per week. Additionally, the airline will push back resuming operations between Split and Athens by a week, though we will see the return of its Lyon and Vienna routes by two weeks.
Flights from Dubrovnik, as well as all remaining Croatian destinations, will operate the same as last summer.
“From Pula, Croatia Airlines will operate to Amsterdam (1x per week), Dubrovnik (1x per week), Frankfurt (2x per week), Zadar (7x per week), Zagreb (13x per week). All frequencies remain unchanged compared to last year, with exception to the one weekly service to Zurich which is suspended. From Osijek, the airline will fly to both Split and Dubrovnik (1x per week).
From Zadar, the airline will operate to Pula (7x per week), Zagreb (13x per week) and Frankfurt (2x per week), maintaining last year’s frequencies. Rijeka will see the Croatian national airline operate flights to Munich (3x per week) as was the case during the summer of 2017, however, it will suspend its one weekly flight to London Heathrow,” adds Ex Yu Aviation.
