September 20, 2023 – The first pet crematorium in Croatia was Pet Memo in Samobor, which opened in 2013. It has been operating since and is a member of the International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories. And now the first pet crematorium in Dalmatia has opened its doors in Šibenik.
As Jutarnji writes, the Šibenik company As-Eko, which has not always been viewed as the good guys (their animal shelter had a 21,37% mortality rate), opened the first pet crematorium in Dalmatia. Their website states that they opened their crematorium, In Loving Memory, because they understand what losing a family member is like.
“We invested 100,000 euros in the crematorium in Podi, and it is the first pet crematorium in Dalmatia. There was a lot of interest from pet owners. Everyone who wanted to dispose of their pet’s remains in a dignified manner had to go to Zagreb to do so. Cremation is just one of our activities, as the company As Eko was also the first in Dalmatia to open an animal shelter. We also have a pet cemetery in the plans. This idea is still in its infancy, though”, said the director of As Eko.

“Your pet is part of your family; it was with you during all life’s changes, and together you created many happy memories. Only those lucky enough to have that special relationship know how hard it can be to lose such unconditional love. Our goal is to ease the sadness of parting, to help you say the last goodbye to your pet, companion, and beloved friend by honoring its memory,” their website states.
Below that is the price list. Individual or group cremation is possible, which dictates the price. Prices range from 70 to 250 euros, depending on the owner’s wishes and how heavy the pet is. They offer a variety of urns, including customized urns with your pet’s photo.
