Nestled in the Old Town of Dubrovnik, this uniquely preserved industrial zone is situated under the Fort Minceta with which it forms the fortification element called kliješta (pincers) that disappeared following the development of defence structures. An archeological research (2005 – 2008) initiated and funded by the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities brought to light impressive discovery of metallurgic foundry with all its original segments: a forge, the mould-casting section, water basins, a sedimentation channel and a sand depository all used for the production of gunpowder, casting bronze and bells mulding. After the extensive restoration, the Upper Corner tower functions as a museum of movable archeological finds.
