The Best Work-Friendly Cafes in Split

Daniela Rogulj

Split is no stranger to cafes, but how many of them are work-friendly where you can set up shop? Here are some of the best cafes in Split for you and your laptop.

Cukarin: With a few locations throughout Split, Cukarin is an established Split institution. All of the locations boast large spaces with plenty of tables and booths to choose from, and you’ll oftentimes find Cukarin being used for business meetings. The Wi-Fi is free, and the coffee, cakes, pastries, and ice cream are just an added bonus to your work-filled day. Another perk? No smoking is allowed inside!

Teak Caffe: Located within the Old Town, Teak is a favorite amongst locals. While the interior may be intimidating with its dimly lit stone walls and antique furniture, you can definitely find a cozy place in their basement where you won’t be bothered. While reviewers of Teak claim the Wi-Fi is good, the only downside is that smoking is allowed inside – but if you can live with it, the atmosphere is truly something special.

Kantoon: Newly opened outside the city in the Firule area of Split last year, Kantoon is a dream for those of you who need a cafe to work in. Inviting decor, lots of light, and an amazing selection of organic breakfast items, tapas, cold-pressed teas and smoothies not only boosts your mood, but helps you through a long day at your laptop. The Wi-Fi is strong and plugs for your charger are plenty. Smoking is allowed on the terrace.

Kavana Procaffe: Like Cukarin, Procaffee is one of the larger cafes in Split with an incredible selection of desserts to reward yourselves with when the work is done. A busy but relaxing atmosphere, Procaffe offers big and comfortable chairs, with the option for lunch bites if you get hungry! No complaints on the Wi-Fi strength, and the view of the sea isn’t too shabby. Smoking is also only allowed in the outside cafe area.

Caffe Bar Basket: Another favorite amongst Splićani, Basket is a small, local hangout that has somehow turned into the place to bring your laptop. While the seating isn’t plenty, there is an upstairs area that offers big working tables. Old Dalmatian men will be seen drinking at the bar with a newspaper as early as 8am, and fashion-forward millenials will proudly sit atop with their headphones and laptops. While you won’t have any problems with the Wi-Fi here, smoking is allowed inside. If you get there early and claim your spot, you’re in for a treat.
