Destination Music: A Look at the Festivals You Can Attend from Split in No Time

Daniela Rogulj

We’ve just passed the mid-June mark which means one significant thing: music festival season is upon us.

While Split is known as an ideal transport hub for boats and buses (amongst a plethora of other beautiful things, of course), today we add yet another perk to our list of reasons why Split is the best.

Did you know that Split is less than 2 hours away from over 10 highly anticipated music festivals this summer? In a country that is booming as a music festival destination, we have to consider ourselves pretty lucky to be here, once again.

Here’s a look at the music festivals you can attend from Split, just a short hop, skip, and a jump away.

Split: Ultra Europe Music Festival will be held in Split this year from July 14-16 at Stadium Poljud. Thousands of EDM-hungry visitors attend the festival from all over the world, turning Split’s famous football stadium into a massive 3-day spectacle.

Omiš: This year, the town of Omiš – which is just a 40-minute drive from Split- will host the Labyrinth Open music festival, transforming the Croatian beachfront into a creative hub. The techno festival will take place from July 8-11, and a full festival ticket will set you back around 130 EUR.

Trogir: Moondance festival returns to Trogir this year from August 10-12. The festival, which is also around a 40-minute drive from Split, will celebrate its 5th anniversary this year. And the coolest part? This techno-heavy event is held inside a 15-century castle!

Primošten: Just an hour drive away, the town of Primošten hosts SuperUho, an indie music festival which will take place from August 7-9 this year. This year’s lineup boasts The Buzzcocks, Shellac, and Billy Bragg.

Šibenik: Located just around an hour from Split is Šibenik, which this year will host the Membrain Festival from August 10-13. An underground bass culture festival that may or may not be mistaken as a rave, the festival aims to bring different cultures together under its “community-based vibe.”

Obonjan Island: Just last year, Obonjan island (right off the coast of Šibenik) was put on the map with their namesake festival “Obonjan.” This year, the island will not only just host the two-month long summer retreat but will bring in former Tisno favorite Electric Elephant from July 6-9.

Tisno: The quiet coastal town of Tisno transforms into THE music festival destination of Dalmatia in the summer, hosting music at The Garden and disco-favorite Barbarella’s Discotheque. Located about an hour and a half from Split, Tisno will host Love International, Movement, Defected, Sunce Beat, Soundwave, and Dekmantel Selectors this summer.

What are you waiting for? We’re already dancing our way there!
