It is a relatively new addition to the Split cultural places available during the summer as it was opened last year. The Live Museum Split is dedicated to perform scenes from daily life of Roman citizens to be presented as authentically as possible, with trained actors and costumes in the area of the 17th century bastion surrounded by a beautiful garden.
The vision of the museum (from the official website):
“Life Museum Split is part of organization called Diocletian’s legion which goal is to promote ancient culture. Our goal is to bring ancient culture to tourists and show how Romans lived.
This project is supported by City of Split and by Tourist Board of Split. Life Museum Split opened in summer of 2014 and it’s grand opening was anticipated for months.
If you are in Split this is must see attraction.”
This year, there is some new content available for the visitors apart from the performances. You can try shooting with a bow and arrow or throw a spear to experience hands-on the real Roman life.
The museum is open during the summer daily from 10 am until 9 pm. For more information visit the Live Museum Split website or follow them on Facebook (pictures from Live Museum Split Facebook page).
