The Split summer season is off to a weird and wacky start.
The usually warm weather pushed us into the summer season a bit sooner than we’re used to in the Dalmatian capital, and with increasingly warm sea temperatures to boot, camping out at our favorite beaches has become mandatory.
Maybe it’s because our sea legs this time of year aren’t quite prepared for the summer season ahead, or maybe it’s because we’ve forgotten our beach etiquette, but some of the stories coming out of Split’s best beaches have us confused and amused at once.
Less than two weeks ago, we shared a story with our readers of how beachgoers at Kašjuni opened the summer season – with one group in particular so excited to rush into the summer season; they drove their BMW into the shallow part of the beach.
The event, of course, was highlighted across Croatian media headlines and could not hide from being the brunt of the country’s best satirical sites.
This time around, another unusual event stunned Split beachgoers – but instead of four wheels stealing the spotlight, it was a four-legged friend.
On Wednesday afternoon, a man and his horse paraded around Trstenik beach! The friendly pair stopped for a few minutes in front of favorite cafe Cox where tourists and patrons took photos. Check out the reader photos courtesy of Dalmacija Danas on June 5, 2018.
For now, we aren’t entirely sure why exactly the horse was at the famous Split beach, or if it has anything to do with the visit of Sinj Alka to Split, but one thing we do know is that the enthusiasm and interest of beachgoers were not lacking.
