From Rococo to Art Nouveau: The Clothes and Fashion Accessories of Split

Daniela Rogulj

On Thursday, May 18, 2017, the exhibition “From Rococo to Art Nouveau – Clothes and Fashion Accessories” will open at the City Museum of Split.

More than two decades after the last exhibition of textiles was held at the City Museum of Split, there will be a new exhibition about the culture of dressing up in Split from the first half of the 18th to the early 20th century.

The exhibition consists of nearly 200 items, from which more than 160 items will be exhibited and processed for the first time.

This exhibition is the result of the professional, passionate, and devoted work of the authors of the exhibition, curator Darka Perko Kerum, and expert associate of several restorers Dina Vuletin Borčić. Together they have created the exhibition – while Darka Perko Kerum is the curator, Dina Vuletin Borčić is the author of the visual identity of the exhibition and the pedagogical workshops that will be held as part of the exhibition. Much of the museum’s staff also contributed to the exhibition’s realization.

The exhibition will be accompanied by educational workshops with a particular emphasis on the Museum of Shadow Theater. The opening of the exhibition will not only bring this evening to life through exhibited historical objects, but also through the flavors and aromas of food accompanied by the music of that time.

The opening of this exhibition will mark International Museum Day. The exhibition with open at 20:00.
