A small hotel in Split’s ‘Ghetto’ is among the best in the world!
The prestigious World Luxury Hotel Awards, known as ‘the pinnacle of achievement in the luxury hotel industry offering international recognition as voted by guests, travelers and industry players’, recognizes the best of the best hotels around the world. This year’s ceremony, which was held in Saint Moritz, Switzerland, saw winners in categories that ranged from best boutique hotels, mountain hotels, island hotels, most romantic, and many more. Additional classifications saw hotels awarded at the state, regional, continental, and global levels, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on January 2, 2018.
Thus, a few Croatian hotels found themselves nominated at the state level for categories including most romantic, luxurious and best island hotels in the country. But even more exciting, however, is that many international jury members and more than 3,000 online voters chose Heritage Hotel Antique Split – a small luxury hotel in Split’s ‘Get’ – as the best heritage hotel in the world.
“We are very honored with the award, and, of course, we were surprised by the nomination itself. The invitation to participate, that is, the nomination, was received at the end of September by the Manager of World Luxury, which was revealed to us thanks to the excellent ratings on TripAdvisor. These reviews have led us to this award because, since our first season, our dear guests did not spare their words of praise. For three years we operated as ‘luxury rooms’ to become the hotel we are in our fourth year of work as a heritage hotel. As such, we are operationally the same, but we have met the criteria for joining the best hotels of the world in their class,” explains Jakov Milun, the proud owner of ‘Heritage Hotel Antique Split’.
The hotel, which Milun runs with his family, is located in the heart of Diocletian’s Palace, on Poljana Grgura Ninskog. The hotel has eight rooms and can be considered a small boutique hotel located in an ‘antique’ and ancient facility, giving it the additional category as a heritage hotel. Fit with luxurious rooms, overnight guests of the hotel are offered breakfast each morning, and with their unrivaled hospitality, Antique has deserved their excellent rating from guests and have become, ultimately, victorious, adds Milun.
“We are proud of the sumptuous breakfast we offer from our small kitchen. Apart from the classic breakfast offer we have Dalmatian prosciutto and homemade cuts, many lovely kinds of cheese, anchovies and the possibility of a-la-carte pancakes and omelettes, of course.”
The recipes are given by the owner, with the remark that they work tirelessly and with love with a team that includes nine members composed of staff and family. Milun claims he holds the stress of ensuring his guests are taken care of from the moment they land at the airport in Split to the second they leave the city, making sure they are content with their stunning view of Peristyle and the lavishness the hotel exudes.
“It’s nice to be recognized for your work, especially when it comes to this prestigious award. Of course, the most important thing is the opinion of our guests. Our typical guest profiles are usually more mature couples, and, on average, they stay for a few days. It is up to us to make their stay unforgettable,” concluded the owner of the best heritage hotel in the world.
Bravo, Heritage Hotel Antique!
