TBF Releases New Single Inspired by Tourism – and We Can Relate

Daniela Rogulj

TBF has released a new single titled “Stranci” – and if you live in Split, you might know this term well.

Tourism – a popular social phenomenon and the branch responsible for some 18% of Croatia’s GDP – hits us heavier than ever in the summer months. 3-hour traffic jams on the coast, built-up beaches adorned with an excessive amount of inflatable props, piercing top-40 music until 6am, a lot of drunks, and a lot of having to wait at your favorite restaurants, oh, and allowing yourself at least an hour grace period to get into town because, you know, crowds.

Don’t get us wrong, we love the summer in Croatia (because where else would we rather be?) but sometimes, we locals simply need an out so we can continue graciously accepting the thousands of tourists flocking to our city.

Luckily, we have one.

TBF, the legendary experimental and innovative group from Split who is also known as The Beat Fleet, has used the never-ending tourism marathon in Split to inspire their new single about, well, foreigners.

The lyrics are presented through the perspective of a person who hosts international travelers in their city – and who better than the eloquent, critical, and political group to sing about this one.

“Stranci is a song from our latest album ‘Danas, Sutra’ and since it has been quite a while since we released this album, we wondered if it made sense to release another single from that album at all – but we realized that we had to, especially since the song ‘Stranci’ is suitable for the coming period . As far as the song is concerned, the theme is about some of the phenomena of tourism, the branches of business, and firstly, its role in the food chain of the domestic ecosystem,” says Saša Antić from the group.

You can listen to the song below.

This, as well as the other songs from the album, was recorded at the Bozon studio in Split and was mixed and mastered in the RSL studio in Novi Mest in Slovenia. With this single, TBF promotes its latest album “Danas, Sutra”, and concludes another cycle of work. Now, they will dedicate themselves to creating new material.
