1. CineStar

The biggest chain of cinemas in Croatia usually screens the newest blockbusters, but there are also special programs, such as play and opera screenings.

 

There are three CineStar locations in Zagreb: Avenue Mall, Arena centar, and Branimir centar, which is also the closest to the centre.

 

In addition to 2D and 3D theatres, in Arena centar there are also a 4D, an IMAX and a Gold Class Theatre, if you want to have an exclusive movie experience. Ticket prices start at 25 kn.

2. Cineplexx

This is a big cinema located in City Center one East shopping mall. Mostly international blockbusters and Croatian movies are shown. Tickets cost around 30 kn.

3. Art kino Grič

Located a minute away from Ban Jelačić Square, in addition to movies and plays, this art cinema features a quirky café and a club in the basement.

 

The repertoire is strictly non-Hollywood films, mostly independent European and American. The ticket price is 15 kn and you can buy the tickets every day 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.

4. Cinema Europa

This cult cinema has been a favourite among the people of Zagreb ever since it was opened in 1925. It has one big hall with 500 seats, a smaller Müller hall with 41 seats, a gift shop, and a bar. It screens around 60 independent contemporary films per year.

Zagreb Film Festival, one of the biggest film festivals in Croatia, takes place here. Tickets cost 20-25 kn.

5. Tuškanac

This cinema screens classics, alternative and amateur film titles, as well as various cycles of noteworthy international movie productions and documentaries.

 

Tickets cost 10-25 kn and you can buy them an hour before the first projection.
