International Bat Night will take place in Veternica Cave next weekend.

Ever since 1997, the last full weekend of August has been reserved for Bat Night in more than 30 countries around Europe. This year’s edition in Zagreb will take place in Veternica Cave and Glavica mountaineering lodge, organised by Medvednica Nature Park, August 25 – 27, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Zagreb.info reports on August 17, 2017.

A Bat Fair will be organised next to Glavica mountaineering lodge, so everyone will be able to find something to their liking – from educational workshops, games and demos, to Bat Tours on electric bikes, with an expert guide leading the way.

“Our guests will include Zagreb ZOO, the Croatian Bio-speleological Society, Tragus Association, Maksimir Park and Sport4you, as well as the kind people from Glavica who will be making homemade specialities.
We have numerous activities in store for you to get to know these mysterious creatures, you will learn everything about their lives, all the ways they benefit humans and how humans and bats can coexist peacefully. If you fall in love with a bat there, you can adopt one (symbolically), and you can learn more about how you can use electric bikes to explore Medvednica,” the press release states.

Guided tours will be organised on the hour, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free bus will be taking visitors from the centre of the city to Zelena magistrala.

Don’t forget to wear warm clothes and put on sturdy shoes.
