Life as a blogger can be quite frustrating.
You can write the most beautiful text, and if people actually read it, they might be inspired.
Or you can show them a picture and see how much quicker they get excited. Consider, for example, writing about hotels on Hvar. I can give you lots of text, or I can give you six photos to explain why you should be booking your 2016 holiday on Croatia’s premier island.
How about the view above to start – Hotel Amfora, Hvar Town’s largest hotel and with a bedroom view over its cascading pools and the magical Pakleni Islands.
Looking for something a little more upscale? Come for a cocktail at Hotel Adriana’s Top Bar, offering a great selection of drinks and perhaps the finest views of Hvar Town – the largest square in all Dalmatia, whose residents include the oldest public theatre in Europe and the home of organised tourism in Europe – and a premium view of both the Spanish Fortress to the left and above, and the divine Pakleni Islands to the right. Style with tradition.
Hotel Adriana is the premier hotel on the island, but one of its best-kept secrets is often overlooked. While many rightly gush at the views from Top Bar, many overlook another treasure on its ground floor, the fabulous ground floor terrace of the Butchery and Wine Restaurant. Arguably the best people watching location in Hvar Town, the restaurant not only serves excellent food, but affords a terrace view of Hvar which takes in its true beauty, while also offering up the sound of lapping waves. Unbeatable.
Hvar of course, is a luxury island, stylish and full of great nightlife options. So there has to be a hotel with view to match. Head to the centre of Hvar Town’s elite riva to the hotel of the same name, Hotel Riva. Relax in stylish company or look out and admire the mega yachts moored up just metres away.
Or head to Hotel Palace, a hotel with a terrace to die for and a history which should not be forgotten for it was here that the Hvar Health Society was formed in 1868, the origins of organised tourism in Europe. The key focus of tourism back then was health, mostly in the winter months, but the summer view of Hvar in season is surely better. A fantastic weding reception location.
And speaking of weddings, could there be a better place to tie the knot than Bonj les Bains, a 1930s colonnade which The Times placed in their top 20 beach resorts in 2010? Already married? Then relax and enjoy the luxury wellness services on offer, including private waterfront cabins and massage services.
Just six amazing hotel views on one of the world’s most stunning islands. If you leave your hotel, of course, thre is so much more magic to discover.
Hvar 2016 is yours. What are you waiting for?
