South-side resident Peter Illing continues his look at the new places to eat through the tunnel.
Kamp Lili is located on the south side of Island Hvar in a beautiful bay called Jagodna, between Sveta Nedjelja and Ivan Dolac. It is a small family camp which is surrounded with pine trees and two beautiful pebble beaches. The bay is ideal for anyone who enjoys the calm and peaceful sea idyll, likewise for admirers of nature, hiking, snorkeling, climbing, surfing, and other sea activities. Jagodna Beach was voted to be number 36 of the 50 most beautiful beaches of the world by ‚The Guardian’ this year. They worte:
„A single-file tunnel through the mountain takes you to Jagodna Bay, a different world from the swankier east side of Hvar, where those rare migrants, billionaires with good taste, hang out. Near Kamp Lili, a tightly packed but friendly campsite, a footpath leads to a beach barely bigger than a tennis court. It is, however, a jewel: clear water with plenty of fish, rocks to dive off and swim out to, and other coves to explore further along the coast. Above the beach, in the pines, there is a small restaurant-bar.“
And the body and soul activities mostly end up in that restaurant-bar called Buffet „Vela Sika“. Buffet means food is only coming from the grill. The name „Vela Sika“ is taken by tradition from former owners and means „big stones surrounded by sea water“. A look at he sea shows why.
Also the place concentrates on the camping guests, it developped to a hidden champion in Peka and fish from the sea for everybody joining the south of the island. You also get fresh lamb from Brac and real original „Cevapi“. All products are regional and you can see the pride in the eyes of the grillmaster „Ribo“, who’s real name is Ivo Macjanic and his wife Simera, who is the active part in the service. The family team gets professional support by their sons Juirica and Antonio, who organize kitchen and bar as well as all delivery duties.
If you are looking for a place to stay where you can rest your body and soul, enjoy a marvelous sea view and some fresh pine smell around your nose combined with opening your senses for a good value grill experience – you found the spot doing it!
