The very thought of doing any physical exercise in this heat apart from lifting a cold one or two fills me with dread, and my hat goes off to the numerous runners and cyclists I see on a daily basis toiling in a heat that this pink Englishman is struggling to cope with.
The good news is that slightly cooler times are upon us, which is good timing if you were condisering taking part in the 5th Hvar Half Marathon, which takes place on Saturday, August 22.
The race, surely one of the most picturesque in the world, starts from Stari Grad and finishes on the main square of Hvar Town, taking along the beauty of the old road to Hvar as its route. Starting at 17:30, one will avoid the fiercest heat of the day, and you can get a flavour of last year’s event from the Hvar TV video below.
