Some rather interesting wine developments in Vrbanj are reaching the mainland.
One of the things I enjoy most about the Total Project is hearing of success stories from the local businesses which support our websites. With the lack of any official support, the project could not continue without the various Hvar and Split businesses which help to finance all these blogs.
I meet a lot of people with the job, and I work hard to promote the quality of our supporters, especially where I see a fit between two businesses.
A natural example of this would be a restaurant and a winemaker, and I was sitting over a cold one with the owner of No Stress on the main square of Split a few weeks ago discussing their menu and wine list for the new season.
Željko knows his wines and it was good to hear there were some Hvar wines on the list. I asked him if he had heard about the rather interesting wines that were coming out of the Plančić winery, where two young winemakers, Ivan from Croatia and Flori from Argentina, are doing some rather spectacular things in their first season in Vrbanj. Check out my first visit to the new Plancic here.
Željko knew the boss of Plančić and called him to taste the new vintage. It is not yet in the bottle, but a wine tasting was arranged, and I was delighted to catch up with Željko yesterday and hear him tell me that the Plančić Bogdanuša is on his list for the 2014 season, and that he was very impressed by it.
Good things are happening at the Plančić winery in Vrbanj after an uncertain few months. The plans there are quite exciting. Watch this space… Or make an appointment and try the wines for yourself at www.plancic.com
