Sinj’s Significance in the World of Football Today

Did you see the display on Bačvice yesterday? A sand replica of a Roman monument Gaius Laber was created in honor of Croatia in the Euro 2016 football tournament.

The author of this piece has wanted to remind everyone, with the upcoming European tournament beginning today, that Croatia is the cradle of football. This is so because in 1969, FIFA recognized that Croatia (especially inland Dalmatia) was the creator of football thousands of years ago.

This exact monument was built and kept for years by a family from Sinj.
