The Center for Halal Quality Certification has awarded the LifeClass Terme Sveti Martin hotel with halal certification, thus positioning Sveti Martin as the first Croatian spa hotel with a halal certificate.
In 2016, the LifeClass Terme Sveti Martin was visited by 1,757 guests of the Islamic faith, while the largest number of visitors came from the United Arab Emirates. This halal certification now ensures lasting and added value for guests of the Islamic faith while placing Terme Sveti Martin on the list of “halal friendly” destinations in Croatia, reports HRTurizam on February 15, 2017.
Halal certification is based on halal standards relating to a set of rules and guidelines for the production, preparation, storage and serving, and procurement of food.
“Motivated by the increased number of guests of the Islamic faith, the Terme Sveti Martin certification process began in June 2016. Thus, thanks to this certificate, all guests of the Islamic faith who visit Terme are ensured cuisine in accordance with halal, and each room will be set up with an arrow that indicates the direction of Mecca, the carpet for prayer and the Koran,” says the Lifeclass Terme Sveti Martin hotel.
The halal certificate was accepted on behalf of Terme Sveti Martin by the director of hotel operations Jelena Berečić, who pointed out that Terme opted for halal certification in order to meet the expectations of guests who come from the halal market.
”The markets are expanding to a Muslim population which is the next step in market expansion for Terme, and a halal certificate is certainly something that we can contribute. The concept of halal is largely in line with the business vision of Terme that reads ‘World of healthy pleasures’, which is propagated with a healthy diet, and the harmony of mind, body and nature. The biggest challenge in the implementation of standards was the animation of local suppliers with whom Terme holds contracts to promote and support the local economy,” said Berečić.
The halal certificate for guests of the Islamic religion provides a guarantee of permanent and additional value while making LifeClass Terme Sveti Martin a desirable national and international halal destination. Halal tourism in Croatia is still poorly developed, and in the future the spa will become a competitive continental Croatian destination in the growing halal market.
