Thirty hotel and catering establishments and six travel agencies are halal certified in Croatia today.

Ilirija d.d., a tourist company from Biograd na Moru, has been awarded halal quality certification for the implementation of quality halal management when preparing and providing food and beverage services and accommodation in their tourist facilities, reports eZadar.hr on June 14, 2017.

The Ilirija d.d. tourist facilities that have been halal certified include Hotel Adriatic, Marina Kornati restaurant, event boat “Nada” – a sailing congress center of 35m and a capacity of 180 persons with a complete restaurant, kitchen, and bar – and Ražnjevića dvori AD 1307, the first diffused hotel in the Republic of Croatia.

Goran Ražnjevic, President of the Management Board of Ilirija d.d., was awarded the halal certificate by Mr. Aldin Dugonjić, Head of the Halal Quality Certification Center of the Islamic Community in Croatia. Mr. Goran Ražnjević pointed out that the implementation of halal quality standards represents the long-term strategy and policy of Ilirija d.d. and its commitment to the continuous improvement of quality in the company’s overall service. Achieving high-quality halal standards is proof of Ilirija’s readiness, commitment, and willingness to adapt to the tourist market demands of Croatia.

“It is our pleasure to present the halal certification to the first hotel in this region today, which further enriches the tourist offer of this region. Croatia’s recognition of the halal market is growing every day, and certainly, the increase in infrastructure opens the possibilities for even better positioning in the tourist market. In Croatia today, 30 hotel and catering establishments and six travel agencies are halal certified, and Ilirija d.d. is just one of them,” said Mr. Dugonjić.

The implementation of the Halal quality management system, which was carried out simultaneously in four different facilities within the company, required training employees, linking with certified suppliers, and adapting to the process of preparing and delivering food and beverages by halal standards.

“With the implementation of the halal system, and especially its synergistic action with the HACCP system, we will certainly provide additional quality of existing services and take an additional step in the affirmation and recognition of the Croatian tourist offer, especially among the guests who require halal standards and quality in food and beverage services and accommodation,” Ilirija d.d. concluded.
