Monte restaurant in Rovinj is the first recipient of the prestigious Michelin star in Croatia, which was announced in the world culinary Michelin guide and confirmed by the Ministry of Tourism.
The strict Michelin inspectors in their guide praised the superb food at Monte, exclaiming that the subtle flavors of their dishes were prepared to the highest standards. Monte was declared as a cool and romantic place whose modern design is in contrast to the old town whose streets are hidden, reports Poslovni.hr on February 1, 2017.
“Creative and sometimes theatrical, their kitchen is also surprising, with the use of modern techniques to create beautifully presented, tasty dishes,” says the Michelin guide that has given Monte their first asterisk, noting that the restaurant has a particularly interesting wine list.
“We are particularly pleased that one of our restaurants received a Michelin star, which is not only the greatest recognition for our gastronomic scene, but for tourism in general. The allocation of such awards will be a great encouragement to others in the tourist sector, and especially caterers because it is the best to have international affirmation of the Croatian gourmet scene. The advantage of the Croatian restaurant offer is certainly the availability of fresh foods throughout the year and the ability to create attractive menus, but we must be aware that throughout this process there is the necessary education and investment in people, the connection with quality food producers, and having chefs with international experience,” said Minister Cappelli who congratulated the restaurant for the award.
And yes, we are aware that the Michelin Guide used a photo of Dubrovnik for their tweet…
