No minuses in sight for the country’s nautical tourism trend.
As Morski writes on the 29th of March, 2018, The Central Bureau of Statistics has published the results of its research into the capacity and business oerations of Croatia’s nautical tourism ports for the year 2017. This includes 140 nautical tourism ports in Croatia, of which 70 are marinas and 70 others are ports. Their total area amounts to 3,711,951 m2, with 17,067 berths.
Growth in the number of vessels and port revenue:
On the 31st of December 2017, there were 13,000 vessels registered on a permanent basis across the country’s nautical tourism ports, which is 0.1% more than there were on the 31st of December, 2016.
The largest number of vessels on a permanent stay were registered under the Croatian flag, 42.5% of them. The following were sailing under the flags of other European countries: Austria (16.5%), Germany (16.0%), Slovenia (5.0%), Italy (4.7%) and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (2.6%). In 2017, there were 202,000 vessels in transit, which is 1.9% more than there were one year before.
According to the type of vessel in transit for which berth was used, the highest number was made up by yachts was 65.7%, followed by motor yachts (29.7%) and then by other vessels (4.6%).
In 2017, the highest number of vessels in transit were from Croatia (46.0%), Italy (15.0%), Germany (12.6%), Austria (7.3%) and Slovenia (3.8%) which makes up 84.7% of the total number of vessels in transit.
The total realised revenue of nautical tourism ports in 2017 amounted to a massive 855 million kuna, of this total sum, 598 million kuna was achieved from berth rental, which is 70.0% of the total income gained. Compared to 2016, total income from this area is 11.2% higher, and rental income is 10.9%, according to the State Bureau of Statistics report.
