A gathering of the movers and shakers in the Croatian gourmet world in Zagreb for the launch of a new luxury gourmet magazine.

The launch party for the first issue of the StoryGourmet magazine was held on October 28, 2015, in RougeMarin bistro in Zagreb, an event attended by Total Croatia News. It was attended by some of the most important names of Croatian gastro-scene and numerous culinary connoisseurs. The first issue of the new quarterly magazine from Story magazine family, published by Adria Media Zagreb, was welcomed by the most well-known Croatian chefs who make a unique and powerful StoryGourmet team: Andrej Barbieri, David Skoko, Petra Jelenić and Mate Janković. Although the fifth member of the StoryGourmet team, chef Marin Medak, missed the launch party due to professional training abroad, he was present through a deliciously rich menu prepared just for the occasion.

The guests at the party celebrating the new and unique culinary magazine enjoyed Jerusalem champagne, Galić wines and Martell cognac, and everybody had the opportunity to learn firsthand how the chefs found themselves in completely new roles – those of journalists and content creators. It is their engagement which makes StoryGourmet relevant and provides the most comprehensive view of the Croatian gastro-scene, from ingredient production to the plate. “There is no question that this is the perfect moment for StoryGourmet, because Croatia’s gastro-scene is flourishing and we have all realized that among us there are incredible talents, people who have suddenly made cooking fun, trendy and sexy. These are people who have awoken our passion for food, a desire to experience our own creativity in the kitchen, but also a need to learn and experience something new”, editor-in-chief Zrinka Ferina explained the reasons for launching such a magazine, adding that the chefs will introduce readers to their inspiring and rich culinary worlds.

Among the guests who were delighted to congratulate the StoryGourmet team were chefs Priska Thuring and Ana Grgić, an American television star and Emmy Award winner Ashley Colburn, the lead singer of Psihomodo Pop Davor Gobac and TV presenter Davor Meštrović, who congratulated his colleague Barbara Kolar who in the very first issue of StoryGourmet presented her menu and prepared it in front of camera lens. In addition to hers, the readers of the first issue of StoryGourmet can find 54 recipes prepared by the finest chefs.

Culinary connoisseur and director Radovan Marčić received congratulations for his article about his long-time friend and one of the most powerful women in American and world culinary scene, chef Lydia Bastianich, and everybody was particularly thrilled with the work of great photographers and food stylists who are responsible for beautiful editorials: from Gaga & Škuf, Boris Berc, Maja Danica Pečanić, Tamara Ganocci Frisch, to Josip Regović and Marko Dušak.

In each issue, gastro-expert Hrvoje Petrić will recommend restaurants, Aleksandar Noršić will write about wines and cheeses, while the expert team of nutritionists from the Food Cultural Centre has addressed, in the first issue, a very current issue of the meat. With numerous tips, tricks, recipes and inspirational photos, presentations, interviews, stories and tales of chefs Barbieri, Medak, Janković and Skoko, as well as an excellent Croatian pastry chef Petra Jelenić, 212 pages of StoryGourmet, which is on sale this week, really make the most delicious and tasteful reading on the domestic market – that was a unanimous conclusion of everybody gathered at the launch party.
