The “Međimurski” festival catered to lovers of electronic dance music, Forestland, has won the best festival in Croatia as announced by longtime music portal, Klubska Scena. The festival takes place in Brezje.
At Zagreb’s Kino Forum (SC Stjepan Radić), for the first time in Croatia, 47 Croatian ‘Ambassadors’ of electronic music were selected in a contest put on by popular music portal Klubska Scena. Among the winners was Međimurski festival of electronic and dance music, Forestland, reports HRTurizam.
The solemn awarding was opened by the founder of the project, Goran Tomašević. On behalf of the City of Zagreb, Peter Latinčić from the Department of Culture, Sports and Education, and the Ministry of Culture, and Aner Stopfer, head of the department of cultural and creative industries, also spoke.
“Forestland is special for us. For four years, a few of us have organized this festival alone, without the help of big promoters, agencies, and whatever we did, we made ourselves, with friends and colleagues. We have the greenest Croatian festival, in the middle of the forest. Through the festival is a gurgling stream, a bit further is the lake, and all of that we have combined with excellent music, international artists and a multi-day party,” said festival spokesman Krešimir Biškup.
The award for “Best Croatian EDM Festival for 2016” was accepted by Forestland festival organizers Boris Novak, Nikola Horvat and Ivan Barlek in Zagreb.
“This award is the highest recognition that we can get. This means a lot to us and is extremely motivating to get this award on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the festival,” said the trio.
Forestland festival is entering its fifth year of existence. The team behind Forestland for 2017 announces new artists, more activities, and the return of the legendary #Forestroom stage, but also some big names, which will make this festival even more memorable.
“The festival exudes a friendly atmosphere and we want to make everyone, from the visitors to the DJs, feel at home,” says Saša Mikac, resident Forestland DJ and booking agent for DJs, adding that everyone is extremely positive and hopes that the festival will have many more Jubilees.
