The legendary sword dance from Korčula has another famous fan.
Along with numerous Croatian and international stars and guests, Korčula has welcomed in recent days the famous Croatian tennis player Marin Čilić, reports Dubrovački Vjesnik on July 18, 2018.
According to unofficial information, Čilić arrived in Korčula several days ago. He enjoys his well-deserved holiday with his wife Kristina and a group of friends. They are staying on board a ship moored in the Korčula ACI Marina and enjoy the specialties of local restaurants.
Čilić knows what people should see when they visit Korčula – the centuries-old Moruška sword dance. Therefore, on Monday night, he and his wife enjoyed the sword dance performance by the Croatian Music Society of St. Cecilia. The Society president Velebit Veršić welcomed the famous tennis player on behalf of all the people of Korčula, presenting him with a copy of a book on the Society.
Locals say that the tennis star is delighted with the hospitality of the islanders and loves to talk with everybody and have his photo taken.
