“You Carry Me” (Ti mene nosiš) by Ivona Juka will be available on Netflix.
The most popular American online service for streaming multimedia content Netflix acquired the rights for acclaimed Croatian film “You Carry Me” (Ti mene nosiš), by writer and director Ivona Juka and produced by the 4film production company, reports Jutarnji List on July 7, 2016.
“You Carry Me” has thus become the first movie, not only from Croatia but from the entire region, which is offered by Netflix. The giant video-on-demand service has been available since January in almost all countries of the world, which means that the film will be seen by over 75 million people worldwide.
“I am extremely proud that our film is the first film from the region for which Netflix has bought the rights for the whole world. This will give us the widest possible distribution in the world. In contrast to the limited distribution of Croatian films in European cinemas, which last only for a month or two and is mainly confined to art-house cinemas, the film will be able to be seen by wide audiences in the next five years”, said Anita Juka, the producer of the film.
“You Carry Me” has been shown at more than 20 international film festivals, and has so far been awarded a total of nine awards, of which the most important ones are two Grand Prix awards for best film (Avvantura Film Festival and LET’S CEE Film Festival). The film also received the highest national award in culture for 2015 – the Vladimir Nazor Award – which was presented to Ivona Juka for her screenplay and direction of the film.
“I am very happy that our film will be available to such a wide audience. This is great recognition of the quality of our film and a fantastic commercial success, which proves that our film is just as interesting as the global hits that are part of the Netflix offer”, said Ivona Juka. The film features some the biggest stars from the region such as Lana Barić, Vojislav Brajović, Nataša Janjić, Helena Beljan, and many others.
