We’re halfway through November, meaning we’re even closer to the longest Split Advent yet!
Due to the European Handball Championship which will be held at the Spaladium Arena in January, this year’s ‘Christmas Fair’ in Split will last for 47 days – precisely from December 2, 2017, to January 16, 2018, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on November 13, 2017.
City Agency “Spalatum D.M.C.” has announced a public invitation for the lease of catering and trade facilities that will be temporarily set up as part of this event, and while the most popular Christmas houses will be displayed on the Riva, the city is looking for interest in this year’s newest locations, Đardin and Ulica kralja Tomislava.
Despite the announcements of fewer houses at this year’s event, the Riva alone will boast 15 Christmas houses with another eight for fritule, pancakes or souvenirs. The homes will be assigned to those who fulfil all the conditions and agree to pay the maximum rental amount.
The initial figures for this year’s Advent, however, are a record high.
For those who want to have a bar, houses range from 76,000 HRK along the border zone, and as much as 90,000 HRK with the VAT for homes surrounding the central stage on the Riva!
Đardin (Strossmayer Park), on the other hand, will have eight houses. A symbolic 3,750 HRK is the starting bid for the two new locations at Đardin and in front of the Art Gallery. But at this price, as expected, there is definitely a ”catch”. Those interested in setting up shop in these areas will have to finance the assembly of their facilities, the stage, production, and submit a complete program with their offer.
While eight houses will be allowed at Đardin, the daily program must fit into the theme of ‘Christmas for Kids in Đardin’ with the possibility of evening concerts.
At Ulica kralja Tomislava, the interested parties can apply for a maximum of four catering facilities, two for fritule or pancakes, and up to 10 market houses. Unfortunately, there is no possibility of organizing a music program here.
Those interested in participating in this year’s Split Advent have until Wednesday, November 15, 2017, to apply. The following week, the results will be published, and the accepted bids will have three days to pay the full amount for their booths.

The popular event will take place on the Riva from December 2, 2017, until January 16, 2018, while the other locations will end on Three Kings’ Day (January 6, 2017).
On Fridays, Saturdays and the days that precede the holiday, the houses will stay open until 01:00. The live music, however, will end at 23:59 the latest. “Spalatum” also announced a program for the Riva, which does not have any well-known names, but smaller DJs and bands that will play two or three times. They include HDD, After fire, Ljuta kuća, Aurora, and Harpoon Blues Band.
