Nudist Mistakenly Thinks Whole Island Is Clothes-Optional

Locals were quite surprised to see a completely nude customer in a grocery shop.

On the island of Murter, locals are just waking up from their winter hibernation and starting to prepare for the arrival of tourists. But, in certain locations the tourist preseason has already begun, and that includes the Kosirina campsite at the small village of Betina, reports Večernji List on April 15, 2017.

Local resident Marko Malec was stunned when employees from the Tommy shop in the centre of the village asked him to come urgently to the shop and help them send off a man who walked naked into the store.

“I could not believe it when they called me to come and help them because he is naked. But, when I arrived, I was more than surprised to see that they were telling the truth,” said Malec.

In fact, the man was a foreign tourist who came to spend part of his preseason holidays at the Kosirina camp where he was staying. “We found out that this man thought that the whole island of Murter was a nudist area. We do have certain locations on the island which are nudist, but they are fewer and fewer of them.” Needless to say, such zones are restricted and have never included streets and store.

Malec asked the man to leave the shop. He answered politely and left the store as if nothing had happened. “I nodded and showed him the way out, and he answered something in German and left the store. He did not appeared to be embarrassed and was really convinced that in Betina is was normal to walk naked down the street and also go shopping,” said Malec.

This is not the first such case of nudists walking naked in public places on Murter. When they see them, locals sometime report them the police. Fortunately for the German shopper, that did not happen this time.
