Enjoy short movie masterpieces from all over the world in Postira on Brač island from July 26 – July 30

The 7th edition of Postira Seaside Film Festival, an international short film festival, will take place in Postira on Brač Island from July 26th to July 30th, 2017, reports Vizkultura.

For the seventh year in a row, this small island village will turn into a truly perfect paradise for film buffs. More than forty short feature films from all over the world, many of them Croatian premieres, will be shown during the five days of the festival.

The festival starts with last year’s Oscar winner in the category of live action shorts – a British-Irish film Stutterer by Ben Cleary, which tells a touching story of a man who deals with his speech impediment with the help of modern technology. On the same evening, French director Laurent Firode, who will be attending the festival for the fourth time, will introduce his new film The Bra, a satirical movie about the current fear of terrorism.

The main competition programme of the festival will screen many great movies for two evenings, including a Swiss movie La Femme et le TGV by Timo von Gunten inspired by a true story about a lonely female driver of the TGV train. The main role is played by Jane Birkin, the internationally known English actress, singer and director, who was made famous by starring in Blow Up, a movie by Michelangelo Antonioni.

Postira continues to co-operate with the renowned Cottbus Film Festival, so on the third evening of PSFF, visitors will enjoy the screening of the Polish film Evil Deeds by a director Piotr Domalewski, a movie from the Cottbus official selection. The focus of the programme of the festival will present films from distant countries, such as Tunisia, India and China. A Tunisian film, Law of the Lamb, which has been in this year’s official selection of Cannes, will be personally presented by the director Lotfi Achour.

The fourth day of the Festival will see many Croatian films, including Po Čovika, an award-winning movie by Kristina Kumić, Ježeva Kućica, an animated movie by Eva Cvijanović (a rarity in PSFF programme) and More, a movie shot and filmed on Brač, which will be presented by its director Igor Šeregi.

All the movies will be screened at the main square of Postira – Pjaca. The off-programme of the festival called Midnight Shorts will take place at the second location, on Prja beach, where visitors can enjoy some of the following films: a Spanish comedy – The Way I Love You by Fernando Garcia-Ruiz Rubio, an audience favourite of this year’s Clermont Ferrand Film Festival and the third part of the Berlin trilogy – Berlin Metanoia by Erik Schmitt.

Top films from all over the world, free entrance to all projections, visiting filmmakers, and a relaxed summer atmosphere – what more could you wish for?
