If Croatia wins the World Cup, Zlatko Dalić and his family will have free food from me for a year, says the owner of the only Croatian restaurant in Moscow.
From Pele to Michael Jackson’s family to Putin, the only Croatian restaurant in Moscow, led by Željko Blaženčić, is a real hit. And with the unbelievable success of Croatia at this World Cup tournament, Željko has promised to change his menu if they lift the trophy in Russia, reports 24 Sata on July 10, 2018.
“If Croatia wins the World Cup, the menu items will carry the names of Croatian footballers for a year. Besides, I will let my beard and mustache grow for a year,” Željko added, and explained how he would match Croatian footballers to his restaurant’s menu items.
“Modrić would be fish in salt, Mandžukić would be a strong steak, Rakitić would be an octopus, Domagoj Vida would be pork, Subašić would get a pannacotta, and Strinić, Kramarić, and Rebić would be lamb under the bell (peka).”
Croatia, who is just two steps from their greatest accomplishment ever, is lead by Zlatko Dalić – at this time, perhaps the favorite figure in Croatia.
And even beyond.
“If Dalić wins the World Cup, he and his family will have free food here. Dalić’s would be the tagliatelle with crab, a great specialty,” Željko added.
Besides Željko, the restaurant is run by his son Duje and friends Dina, Nikola, and Tihomir who were born in Slavonski Brod.
After a bit of storytelling, the group sang the famous guitar song ‘Croatia, I love you with my soul’ (Croatio iz duše te ljubim) and Željko ended the meeting with a joke.
“The French and the English were talking and the English said they were playing Croatia on Wednesday. The French answered: what a coincidence, we are playing them on Sunday!”
