Split-native Roko Blažević will represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv this year!
Dora, the national competition held to determine the Croatian choice for the Eurovision Song Contest, returned after eight years with live streaming from Opatija. This time, the competition was not held in the well-known Crystal Hall of the Hotel Kvarner, but the sports hall “Marino Cvetković”. The three hosts of this year’s event were Iva Šulentić, Jelena Glišić, and Mirko Fodor, reports T.portal on February 16, 2019.
Thanks to the first votes of the professional jury and the television audience, Split’s Roko Blažević was declared the winner of the Dora this year, and will represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘The Dream’.

“I still really do not know what happened. I want to thank my family, friends, and classmates,” said Roko Blažević in the direct broadcast on HTV, still full of emotions.
Jacques Houdek, the recording artist who represented Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, believed in Roko the most – and together with his team, wrote a song for the young Split singer. Roko and Jacques first met on the RTL show ‘Stars,’ where he was delighted with his vocal abilities.
“I had a very clear vision, just as I had the chance to represent Croatia. Even when I first heard RokoI said, ‘This is a miracle that the world needs to hear!’,” Jacques Houdek said and added that he expected him to be in the top 3.

The event began with the performance of last year’s Croatian Eurovision representative, Fraka Batelić. Franka decided on a medley of songs ’Crazy’, ‘S tobom’, and ‘Kao ti i ja’, after which the official competition began.
The singers that fought on Saturday for a spot in Israel were Bojan Jambrošić and Danijela Pintarić, Jelena Bosančić, Kim Verson, Jure Brkljača, Beta Sudar, Lea Mijatović, Gelato Sisters, Luka Nižetić, Elis Lovrić, Domenika, Roko Blažević, Ema Gagro, Lidija Bačić Lille, Lorena, Bernarda, and Manntra.
Roko will represent Croatia, and his beloved Split, in the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv in May.
