With over 20 professional speakers who will present the latest technology and talk about the most current developer themes, it is expected that this year’s SHIFT conference will be visited by over 1,300 participants from Croatia and the region.
When the conference first began seven years ago, SHIFT never realized that thanks to the most extensive regional gathering of developers, the city of Split would find a place on the European IT map, reports Dalmacija Danas on February 8, 2018.
“After the first two releases, which were more focused on start-up issues, we decided to make a turn and focus on creating a regional network targeted at developers,” says Ivan Burazin, the founder and initiator of the conference that gathered 1,200 participants in Split last year from all parts of the world.

This year, over two conference days (May 31 and June 1, 2018), speakers will process dozens of topics, including standard web and mobile development topics, as well as the most current IT topics that are in focus every day, such as artificial intelligence, Blockchain and decentralized applications. With the growing interest of the local community on the ability to apply practical knowledge in day-to-day business, SHIFT will traditionally organize special workshops targeted at young developers and will offer participants a truly unique experience.
“From year to year, we try to be innovative and original. In addition to being an ideal opportunity to reach young talents and deliver solutions to targeted business partners, more and more each year, the established contacts at SHIFT open many doors, which is a great incentive for networking that shows a growing interest of visitors,” Burazin added.
The confirmed speakers this year include the leading names of global IT giants, Microsoft, representatives of the world’s most famous website Amazon, who opened their first off-line store in Seattle last month, as well as GitHub and CSS specialists, whose products and services are used by millions of people every day around the world.
The organizers of SHIFT have thus far announced the first three speakers:

Sean Larkin | Technical Program Manager at Microsoft
A former technical support representative, Sean became a relentless software engineer, guided by the need to help people with the code he writes. Sean is a member of the Webpack core team, angular team and angular-clicore team. He lives to bring others closer to the world of web programming and is obsessed with AngularJS, readability, Webpack, bundlers, tooling, and anything that helps make web programming and engineering easier and more enjoyable for everyone to use.
