Šibenik’s 58th International Children’s Festival Open!

Šibenik is the place to be for the youngest members of our families!

As Morski writes on the 17th of June, 2018, with the traditional raising of the festival flag and the performing of the ”Hello Little Ones” hymn under the auspices of the Croatian President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the 58th International Children’s Festival (MDF) was opened on Friday in front of the City Hall in the popular Dalmatian town of Šibenik.

The honour of performing the MDF’s first show was given to the kids from the drama studio of Karlovac’s city theatre, Zorin dom, according to a report from ŠibenikIn, and it would appear that this, the 58th edition of the popular festival, has seen many more children in attendance than was initially expected.

A whole series of high-ranking guests were present for the opening, including Šibenik-Knin’s prefect, Goran Pauk, and many others. Although in the last few days there were rumours that Marko Perković Thompson would come to the opening, the popular yet somewhat controversial singer wasn’t present, but his wife and children were allegedly in the audience.

Spanning two weeks in Šibenik, the MDF is set to host over 700 performers and artists from as many as eighteen countries, including South Korea, Italy, China, Germany, Poland, France, Spain, Austria, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina, and from the countries in the region.

In addition to performances, a whole range of workshops for children will be held in Šibenik during the MDF, covering everything from the world of film to journalism.
