In selecting the safest city in Croatia, four criteria were used: the number of violent criminal offenses, the number of property crimes, traffic deaths and narcotic drug abuse.

For the fourth year in a row, Sinj was proclaimed the safest city in Croatia, in front of Đakovo and Požega. The news was announced at the tenth “Safest Cities 2018” international conference in Split, where the representatives of these cities were commended, reports Vecernji List on March 22, 2018.

As explained, in selecting the safest city in Croatia, four criteria were used: the number of violent crimes, the number of property crimes, traffic deaths and narcotic drug abuse.

Deputy Mayor of Sinj, Denis Glavan, accepted the award and pointed out that the people of Sinj are proud that their city is the safest in Croatia for the fourth consecutive year.

“To have a safe city, prevention is crucial, and in Sinj, we invest heavily in the young people, culture and sport, ensuring they do not have time to be involved in dishonorable actions,” said Glavan.

At the 10th “Safest Cities 2018” international Conference, the award for the best project prevention at the local level in the region was awarded to Kraljevo in Serbia.

In the competition for Croatia, Vukovar-Srijem County was recognized as having the best community prevention project in the local community, followed by the cities of Split and Opatija.

For years of partnership and support, the “Safest Cities 2018” conference has given special thanks to the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia, the State Protection and Rescue Administration (DUZS), the Association of Cities and the Platforms of Croatian Cities and Counties to Reduce Disaster Risk.
