Split Advent: Battle for Holiday Stalls Begins as Offers Come in

Daniela Rogulj

After the ‘revamped’ Split Advent (now called ‘Winter Watercolors’) was announced at the end of last month, the offers for the highly anticipated ‘holiday homes’ poured in. Here are the applicants we know so far.

Potential exhibitors gathered on Friday at the Spalatum D.M.C. premises to open the bids for exhibitors at Winter Watercolors – this year’s Advent and Christmas celebration in Split. There are a total of 32 entries for the holiday event, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on November 9, 2018.

The public call for tenders was published on the Spalatum D.M.C. website on October 30th, and as part of the Commission at yesterday’s opening was Antonija Maletić as the representative of the City of Split, Marijana Pivalica on behalf of the Tourist Board of the City of Split, and Tomislav Plazibat representing Spalatum D.M.C.

The highest cash offer was given for ‘Type G’, or a catering home (a restaurant or cafe) with a full range of food and drinks on the Riva. The highest bid was offered by Toto’s Burger Bar in the amount of 77,000 kuna.

For ‘Type K’ holiday homes, respectively those at Gaje Bulata Square and in front of the HNK building, the highest bid of 12,333 kuna was offered by the company “Naša fitica”, while for ‘Type A’, which consists of simple catering such as fritule, pancakes and uštipak, the largest amount was offered by “Ring” in the amount of 71,112 kuna.

The company “Trend” offered the highest price for ‘Type H’, or a shop on the Riva, worth 22,650 kuna, while “Tiramoli” had the best bid for ‘Type D’ in the amount of 14,000 kuna.

The above maximum bids are only for the priority selection of the holiday homes, and each of the bidders has at least two alternate options if their first bid is not ranked best by all the bids received.

For the zone at the Gallery of Fine Arts, one of the priority offers came from “Amper” in the amount of 6,003 kuna, as well as from “Petra” in the amount of 5,005 kuna.

“There are 26-holiday homes and two zones that are all given to the lessors. Interest is bigger than last year, and we have more offers than last year. The Commission will review all bids received and check their documentation, and then on Monday, the Spalatum D.M.C. website will publish the results,” aid Ante Šunjić, director of Spalatum D.M.C.

The starting price for holiday stalls was lower than last year, so the potential tenant’s offers were priced lower than in the previous year. As in previous years, the main criterion for deciding who receives a holiday home will be the amount offered and ensuring all of the documentation checks out.
