Ledo retains the top spot in the region.
Ledo, the leading ice cream manufacturer in Croatia and neighbouring countries, belongs among those companies in the region which are successfully fighting off even the largest global ice cream producers. The latest Euromonitor research showed that Ledo maintained a strong standing in the Adria market, the company announced on Thursday, reports tportal.hr on March 4, 2016.
The global ice cream and frozen desert market has reached an estimated 76,4 billion dollars, and Ledo, a part of Ivica Todorić’s Agrokor group, has its clearly defined place in it, especially when it comes to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, and Kosovo.
“Euromonitor confirmed that Ledo has managed to keep the market leader position even when faced with such a very strong competition from other companies. The Adria region is our primary market and we have been holding a firm position on it for decades. In recent years, we have made some significant breakthroughs and gained valuable experience related to countries that are farther away, including the United States, one of the most demanding markets in the world”, said Dario Vrabec, chief executive officer of Ledo.
Meanwhile, Ledo has been continually investing in the development of new products, which are always based on innovation. Mintel, an internationally renowned company for business intelligence, has recently confirmed this claim in its comprehensive analysis of the Ledo product portfolio.
The ice cream manufacturer continues to enhance its international business activities by exporting its products to over 20 European, African and Asian countries. According to the company, one third of Ledo’s production is being exported to about 20 foreign markets, including United Arab Emirates, Libya and Azerbaijan.
Based on quantity, the most important markets are Hungary and Slovenia, followed by Norway and United States, where Ledo works with Kroger, the second largest retail chain in the United States and the fifth largest in the world. In addition to Kroger, Ledo has partnered up with other leading world companies, such as British Tesco, Norwegian Diplom Is, and IFFCO Unipex Dairy from United Arab Emirates, for which Ledo produces its premium ice creams.
