The company opened its office in Zagreb in 1998.
The office of Turkish Airlines in Croatia did not feel last year’s decline of tourism in Turkey, and for this year they expect more passengers than last year on flights from and to Croatia, said general manager of the office Ugur Cantimur, reports Večernji List on March 7, 2017.
Noting that, since the opening of the office in Zagreb in 1998, they have recorded at least some increase in traffic almost every year, Cantimur added that they were proud that passengers voted the company as the best airline in Europe, for the sixth time in a row. “This is an obligation for us to be even better this year. Despite the reduced number of passengers on flights to Turkey and Istanbul, we expect that, just like last year, we will compensate that with flights from Croatia to other destinations, mostly to the Far East and America, where we have a large number of passengers from Croatia”, said Cantimur.
The Turkish national airlines flies from Zagreb 14 times a week, or twice a day, to destinations in the Far East and the United States, and in May last year they also launched flights from Dubrovnik seven days a week.
“We are very pleased with flights from Dubrovnik. Just like with the flights from Zagreb, we hope that this year they will have even more passengers than last year, especially since this year in July we will introduce flights from Croatia to Pukhet in Thailand, and we have recently introduced flights to Havana, Caracas, the Seychelles and Zanzibar”, said Cantimur, noting that his company flies to 296 destinations, which is higher number of destinations than any other airline in the world.
According to the latest data, from January to November 2016, Turkish Airlines transported 58.3 million passengers, which is about 1.7 million passengers more than in the same period of 2015. The number of passengers on domestic flights increased by about 4 percent, and on international flights by about 2 percent.
