June the 10th, 2024 – The Croatian EU parliament election results are now in. Let’s take a look at who will be representing the country’s interests at the EU level.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the election results are not surprising in a certain sense. HDZ won six mandates, SDP won four, and Homeland Movement (Domovinski Pokret) and Mozemo! (We Can!) one mandate each. These are the Croatian EU parliament election results according to the first unofficial results announced by the competent state body at 23:00 on Sunday night.
HDZ received 34.6 percent of the votes, the list of SDP and its partners won 25.96 percent of the votes, and DP came in third place with 8.82 percent of the votes. In fourth place came Mozemo! with 5.92 percent of votes.
The data was obtained based on the processing of 99.82 percent of polling stations nationwide, with 751,326 of voters having voted in processed polling stations.
As touched on above, the results thus far (which are as yet still unofficial), are not that surprising. HDZ performed the best, with SDP not too far behind. It cements that even at the EU level, Croatian politics is very much a two party race almost every single time. It wasn’t helped by the fact that the turnout was a miserable 21.32 percent, which is 8.53 percent less than in the 2019 elections.
