February the 6th, 2025 – Davor Bruketa has become the very first Croatian designer to be included in the Red Dot Design Diary.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Red Dot, the global design award, has included Davor Bruketa in its Design Diary, marking the first time a Croatian designer has been included in the prestigious publication’s list of world designers. The above was announced by the Bruketa&Žinić&Grey agency, of which he is co-founder and creative director.
The publication, published annually by the organisers of the Red Dot Design Award competition, brings practical information and inspiration for designers and design professionals. It also lists around three hundred of the most important contemporary designers spanning different generations, from Alvar Aalto, Ron Arad, Neville Brody, Stefan Seigmaster to Irma Boom.
Davor Bruketa being included in the Red Dot Design Diary highlights his contribution to the industry. It also works to firmly place Croatia on the map as a country rich in talent, and this recognition can open the door to new collaborations and projects within and outside Croatia.
“Inclusion in the Red Dot Design Diary is not only a personal success, but also recognition for everyone who works to improve design in Croatia,” the agency stated.
According to the laureate, it is an honor to stand alongside some of the greatest legends in the history of design, and that this recognition is primarily a reflection of the joint effort and creativity of their team.
“I’m very proud that we can show that ideas that are recognised on a global level can also come from Croatia. I hope that this will motivate other designers across Croatia to believe in their visions and continue to create with enthusiasm,” said Bruketa.
In his thirty-year career, he was the creative director of 29 projects that were awarded the Red Dot Award, three of which won Best of the Best.
This award was founded back in 1955 in Germany and is organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. It rewards excellence in product, communication and conceptual designs. It encourages innovation in various industries, from technology and architecture to fashion and branding, and promotes design as a driver of cultural and economic progress. The unique red symbol, awarded to winners, has become a recognisable sign of exceptional design among consumers and industry leaders.
The award-winning agency Bruketa&Žinić&Grey (then just Bruketa&Žinić) won its first Red Dot Best of the Best award back in 2007 for Podravka’s annual report “Excerpt from the Eternal Debate on the Heart”. Now that Davor Bruketa himself has been spotlighted by the Red Dot Design Diary, it will work in constant favour for the incredible talent this country boasts.
