But could they keep up?
As Morski writes on the 25th of August, 2018, celebrated Croatian swimmer Dina Levačić, from Split, has announced that due to hurricane Lane, she decided against swimming the 42-kilometre long Molokai channel in Hawaii.
As the police has to close the beach she had been training at so far, Dina moved to Waikiki Beach where she had an incredible experience, and an entire family of friendly sea turtles joined in with her training.
”This day hasn’t been marked by hurricane Lane, but by something completely different. Because the police have had to close the beach at which I’ve trained so far, I had to switch to Waikiki today. Although the swimming was very difficult, with waves hitting me in the head, a lot of precautions had to be taken so that the sea wouldn’t take me out towards the reef, which stretches the entire length of the beach, all of that disappeared in one moment, during the moment in which I had a close encounter with a sea turtle, which turned out to be just part of a whole family [of them]. I even had a little luck because one of them was so peaceful that she let me touch her. For the next fifteen minutes, I became a five year old girl again and watched impatiently for where another of them would emerge. How big the largest of them was, you can see in the photo,” Dina wrote with a photograph showing her hands showing the size of the turtle which decided to take a swim with her.
